B4checkin is a developer and provider of an innovative suite of cloud-based software solutions for the hospitality industry.

Founded in 2006 and based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, core products include chameleon, a revolutionary booking engine with several fully customizable looks for hotels to choose from, b4feedback, a seamless guest satisfaction tracking and management tool, b4GDS, a web-based GDS management tool, and b4arrival, the industry’s first mobile check-in system.

Of particular note is b4easypost which enables validation of reservations and group in real-time in the PMS. This interactive and fully PCI compliant platform allows guests to make deposits or payments on individual reservations, giving meeting planners a fluid system to connect deposits on group accounts. The existing industry practice is to guarantee payment through fax credit card authorization forms to hotels and then manually post these deposits. This practice, aside from its inconvenience, is prone to human error and runs contrary to PCI compliance standards.

Currently, properties throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America and Africa (representing more than 50,000 rooms) utilize b4checkin solutions.  b4checkin also works with the University Club market; including such well known Clubs as, the Yale Club, the Harvard Club, the Cornell Club, the University Club of Chicago, and the New York Athletic Club.

b4checkin interfaces with major Property Management Systems (PMS) including Oracle MICROS, Agilysys Visual One & LMS, RoomMaster and Infor’s Epitome & Medallion.

Other specialized products include b4ubet, an online redemption system for hotel casino players as well as b4golf and b4spa, which are online activity scheduling solutions currently integrated with the Agilysys Visual One PMS.

Meet The Team:

Saar studied Software Engineering in college in Eastern Canada, which directly led to work in project management and software development for hospitality companies. In addition to fostering an intimate knowledge of the hotel industry during this time, he recognized the need for superior software interfaces and conceived the idea for b4checkin which he has devoted his time to ever since. Saar is a former chess champion as well as an avid skier.

Martin MacKinnon – Chief Financial Officer
Martin studied at St. Francis Xavier University before completing his MBA. After graduating, he eventually found himself in a CFO position for Keddy’s Motor Inn followed by a group of physiotherapy clinics. In 2007, he became the CFO for a publicly traded mining company while he started to grow b4checkin. However, his passion for innovation and the hospitality industry soon compelled him to move to b4checkin on a full-time basis. Outside of work, Martin is active in federal politics and has even run for office.

Greg Aus Open 2014Greg Thomson – Vice President of Customer Relations
Prior to joining the team, Greg worked in the hotel industry for 15 years. Ironically, it was during his time as Director of Revenue that he became b4checkin’s first customer. Enamored by the company, he joined soon after. His tenure allows Greg to always put himself in the property’s shoes to ensure that they get exactly what they need from b4checkin. Greg is also a part-time commerce professor at a local university. Outside of work, Greg is a competitive runner, ultimate Frisbee player and tennis player. Lastly, he’s a professional tennis fan having seen all four majors in person.

MiaMarvinPuck Steve Miles – Vice President of Operations
With a career in hospitality spanning over 25 years following studies in the CMA program and a certificate in hospitality management development, Steve has held a range of senior hotel management positions including director of operations, financial controller and corporate capital manager. This diversity has provided him with strong leadership skills and a devotion to service standard excellence. In his spare time, Steve volunteers with Canoe Kayak Canada as well as the breeding, raising and training of the cutest Labrador retrievers in the Maritimes.

Conner Erwin – Vice President of Sales
Conner has spent nearly two decades using technology to help companies connect with their audiences and achieve their desired business goals. In his previous role, Conner grew a startup from 40 employees with $600,000 in recurring revenue to 150 employees and $15.5 million in recurring revenue. Along the way, he pioneered a new vertical in resort hospitality, completed an acquisition of a competitor, and then, in August 2016, successfully sold the company to a private equity firm. For b4checkin, he uses his expertise to put clients and their guests at the forefront of every effort. When he’s not in the office he enjoys all things aquatic: surfing, freediving, spearfishing and boating to name a few. All of his voyages — professional or personal — he approaches with precision, focus and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Beth Hamilton – Product Manager
Beth has spent her career at b4checkin helping to grow our products, documentation and processes. She has worked extensively with all of our applications and many of our customers, making her our resident product expert. When she isn’t at b4checkin, she spends her time volunteering with and participating in endurance fitness events. She has participated in and co-event directed a charity event called The BIG SWIM, a 16km ocean swim from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island. Beth has also ran the Disney Princess Half Marathon with her mom, completed a few half Ironman triathlons and loves to rock a megaphone at The Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon.

Greg Field – Account Manager
Greg Field is a Saint Mary’s Alumni with a passion for baseball, good food and pop culture. Apart from becoming the youngest associate member of The Halifax Club in 2012, Greg also founded the first ever Saint Mary’s University Young Alumni Halifax Chapter. When he isn’t hiking, checking out a pub or being a movie and music junkie, you can usually find him on the Halifax waterfront with his dog Karma.

Morgan Shepherd – Account Manager
Morgan is a university graduate with a psychology major who quickly settled into the b4checkin team. With many years in the customer service industry, she has grown to love speaking with people and helping them to meet their business needs. Outside of work, Morgan is an avid gym goer, music fanatic, singer/songwriter and comedy lover who’s always in the mood for a good laugh.

Dory – Doorman
Make no mistake, Dory is the brains of this operation. Not only does he energetically greet every person to grace our halls in order to get them in the proper Halifax spirit, but he also ensures that no three-old-day bagged lunch or late night pizza order causes any lethargy or stomach discomfort, allowing the rest of the team to work to their best. During his previous job as a barketing manager at a leading not-for-profit, he founded the Dogs Helping Dogs Help Dog charitable movement and he is eager to bring this same altruistic woof to b4checkin.
